Quoted from an Acton School of Business brochure: “Some people portray business as a complex enterprise, requiring the mastery of impressive-sounding jargon, complicated flowcharts, and spreadsheets—a “secret society” limited to Fortune 500 CEO’s, highly paid consultants and business school professors. Yet, millions of people who have never seen the inside of a business school are running successful companies. Sam Walton, Bill Gates, and Herb Kelleher built some of the largest companies in the world on simple concepts and relentless execution.”
I have rented a location in Alpine, TX for the new production studio that will also serve as a gallery. Whole Goods will teach low income 14 to 24 year olds how to be micro-entrepreneurs by producing and selling handmade products (both wholesale and retail) through both an online, and brick and mortar store. We will connect Workforce Solutions income eligible youth to artists by exchanging our technology skills for the artist’s creative skills. WholeGoods participants will offer the artist something of value with skills like photography, website help, and workshops in social marketing.
Our purpose is to allow artists to compete with mass produced imports. WholeGoods will get artists’ work hand produced in the U.S. and then into the hands of retail businesses at a price that is fair to all: the artist, the craftsman, the retailer, and the average American buyer. It will be Fair Trade, but American Style.
