Anyone who reads this blog regularly, knows my dad had unexpected heart surgery in March. Even though I now know that bypass surgery is fairly common these days, knowing my father’s chest bones were going to be sawed on, and his heart cut open was terrifying. But his heart was in good hands (literally). The doctors and nurses at Harris Hospital in Ft. Worth are experts, and without a doubt, know what they are doing. My dad is now happy and healthy again, and a few months later, went hiking with me in the high mountains of Ft. Davis.
Him being able to make the eight hour road trip out here was a treat in itself, but the treat I spoke of above is a photograph he copied for John and me of some of his nurses holding the heart rattles he had given them. While my dad was in the hospital having the surgery, John sent us a big box of heart rattles for thank you gifts, and we had plenty of people to thank.
I feel such a deep appreciation for the doctors and nurses who cared for my father. It takes a great deal of commitment, dedication, and hard work to go into the medical field, and I am forever grateful for all who that take that difficult path.
